The first-session policy
Try your firstsession risk-free.
The first session is a test drive, not a commitment. Book one session with any trainer, at the price on their profile, with no contract and no membership. If it is not right, you are covered by a real policy with real mechanics, written below in plain language.
Can I try a personal trainer before committing to a package?
Yes. Fit Local has no contracts, so you can book a single session with any trainer and decide from there. Cancellation is free and automatic up to 24 hours before your session; inside 24 hours it becomes a review request. If the session was not right, refund requests are accepted until the trainer pay period closes, one week after the session.
The policy, in plain language
More than 24 hours before your session
Cancel any time, free, handled automatically. No call, no negotiation.
Inside 24 hours
A cancellation is submitted as a request rather than processed instantly. A human reviews it. This protects the trainer’s calendar from no-shows while keeping a fair path open for real conflicts.
After the session
If it was not right, submit a refund request. Refund requests are tied to the trainer pay period and are accepted until that period closes, one week after the session. Once the pay period closes, the session can no longer be requested back.
That is the whole policy. No asterisks, no “processing fees,” no retention call. The same mechanics live in our Terms of Use, and this page and the Terms will always match.
“What if I don’t like my personal trainer after the first session?”
Then you do not book a second one, and that is the end of it. There is no package you bought into and no contract to escape. If the session itself went wrong, use the refund request within the one-week window. And because every profile is open, your next pick is one browse away: find your trainer.
Why we run it this way
Plenty of platforms advertise some version of a first-session promise. We publish ours as mechanics instead of a slogan because the whole platform is built on the same idea: you should never have to commit before you have enough information. Open profiles, public prices, single-session booking, and a clear cancellation policy are all the same feature. This page is just the proof.
Curious how the booking flow works end to end? How booking and cancellation work.
Frequently asked
Does the first session cost anything?
You pay the session price shown on the trainer’s profile when you book. The point of the policy is that the money is not stuck: free cancellation to 24 hours out, and a one-week refund-request window after the session.
Can I switch trainers after the first session?
Yes, any time. There is no contract tying you to one trainer. Browse and book someone new whenever you want.
Where do I see the full legal policy?
The full cancellation and refund policy lives in the Terms of Use.
