Four ways Austin trainers get floor space
- Rent time at a gym that publishes it. The rows marked “Trainers rent space” above. You keep your clients; the gym charges for the floor.
- Train where your client is already a member. Some gyms allow it, many do not. The rows marked “Members only” or “Not allowed” tell you before you ask.
- Go to them. Clients’ homes, apartment and condo gyms. No floor fee; you bring the gear and the drive. See in-home training in Austin.
- Train outside, with a permit. The City of Austin says “Permits are required for all trainers/activities regardless if per fee classes are charged or not to a consumer,” at $50 per instructor per six-month term (source: City of Austin, Commercial Use of Dedicated Parkland, read October 2, 2026).
Questions to ask before you sign a rent agreement
- Is it a flat monthly rent, a fee per session, or both?
- Does my client need a day pass or a membership on top?
- Which hours and which part of the floor can I use?
- Do you require my own liability insurance and a current certification, and how much cover?
- Can I bring my own equipment, and where does it live?
- What notice ends the agreement, on either side?

Your gym is not on the list?
Two ways in. A gym that publishes its policy on outside trainers gets a row the next time we check. A trainer who works out of a gym can tell us on the free profile application: it asks where you train, and we confirm on the gym’s own site before anything is added.
Floor space is half of it. The other half is being found
A Fit Local profile is free and puts your price, your gym and your calendar in front of Austin clients who already want in-person training. The platform takes a share only when a session books (see trainer pricing).

Frequently asked
Where can an independent personal trainer train clients in Austin?
13 Austin-area gyms and studios publish on their own websites whether an outside trainer can bring clients, and 8 of them let trainers in. The table quotes each gym’s own words, links the page, and shows the date we opened it. A gym that says nothing in writing is not listed. Which Austin gyms let independent personal trainers bring their own clients?
On their own websites: BodyWise Gym, Liberty Hill Athletics, Los Campeones Gym (Austin North), The Strength Warehouse, Tiger ATX, Los Campeones Gym (Round Rock), Shuffle HQ Dance and Fitness Studio, Live Large Fit Studios, State Line Gym, Los Campeones Gym (Austin South). Each row in the table quotes the gym’s words and links the page we read.
How much is a day pass at an Austin gym?
The gyms in the table that publish one: BodyWise Gym, $15; Los Campeones Gym (Austin North), $19; Castle Hill Fitness, $30 (1 visit or class); Los Campeones Gym (Round Rock), $19; Korrect Fitness, $35; State Line Gym, $13; Los Campeones Gym (Austin South), $19. A client training with you may need their own pass or membership; ask the gym.
Can I train clients in an Austin park?
Yes, with a City of Austin commercial-use permit. The city says: “Permits are required for all trainers/activities regardless if per fee classes are charged or not to a consumer,” at a $50 permit fee per instructor for each six-month term.
How does a gym get on this list?
By publishing its policy on outside trainers on its own website, or confirming it to us in writing. We open the page, quote it, and date it. No gym pays to be listed, and order is by area and name, never by payment.
I train at a gym that is not here. What do I do?
Tell us on the free trainer application: there is a field for where you train. We check the gym’s own site before anything is added.
How we build this table: every row is a gym’s own web page, quoted, linked and dated. We never list a gym on an address alone, and we never guess which trainers work where; a name in the last column is the trainer’s own report until the gym confirms it.
